AI-POWERED SCHEDULING
Student Productivity
Mobile App

Students are overwhelmed and under supported throughout unprecedented times of remote learning during a pandemic.
The client (third level education provider in Ireland) needed an online solution to better connect students with each other and teaching staff but also support students with their organizational challenges.
I was responsible for extensive user research through survey, focus groups and interviews, I partnered with another colleague and personally invested considerable time with both faculty and students to understand the current state of working systems, challenges and user needs where four key themes were identified and prioritized here:
Inefficient
88% Students feel overloaded by current systems (Moodle) with an average of 17 clicks to resolve routine requests.
Overwhelmed
93% Students dislike using multiple touchpoints (Social media, email, message boards, LMS - Moodle).
Isolated
91% Students don’t feel connected and experience a greater sense of isolation with online learning.
Isolated
88% Students feel disorganised and struggle to find points of contact when needed for time sensitive issues.
The resulting AI-powered scheduling app offers a seamless user experience, directly addressing these 4 primary user issues to the targeted outcomes:
Narrowing the Scope
Rather than overwhelming with a myriad features, our design ethos focused on a singular, intuitive menu. Distilling core tasks which enhance user productivity and the overall experience.
Simplify Organisation
By retaining crucial organisational features and presenting them in a more compact layout, I’ve removed the necessity for many different sources of information, ensuring a seamless user journey.
Building Community
Drawing inspiration from platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp which the target users are most familiar with. Genuine social interactions are enabled to reinforce peer connections.
Customising the Experience
Observing the under-utilised customisation of current systems, this design strategy emphasises streamlined features that directly cater to primary individualised user needs.
Here, the outcomes and achievements of the project are highlighted, including user feedback, adoption rates, and industry recognition.
